Week 3 — Integration and Expansion
In Week 3, everything starts to come together.
You’ll revisit the basic progression once more, this time using an arpeggiated pattern with alternate picking. The goal is precision and clarity — letting each note speak while keeping your right hand consistent and controlled. This strengthens timing, articulation, and your connection to the chord tones inside each shape.
Next, you’ll tackle the most challenging concept of the month: combining bar chords with fills. This requires independence between your rhythm and lead playing — holding the groove while weaving melodic fragments in between chord hits. It’s a true coordination test and a major step toward sounding like a complete player rather than someone switching between rhythm and lead.
Finally, you’ll learn the E major pentatonic scale moving diagonally up the neck. Instead of staying locked in one box, you’ll begin connecting positions, seeing how the scale travels across strings and up the fretboard. This diagonal movement helps you break out of static shapes and start thinking in pathways instead of patterns.
Week 3 is about integration:
Harmony
Picking control
Groove
Lead movement
Fretboard connection
Move slowly. Stay relaxed. Focus on clean execution.
This is where your playing starts to feel connected and intentional across the entire neck.
