Chord Flow In E – Week 1

Week 1 — Establishing the Progression

This week is about internalizing the I–vi–IV–V progression in E.

You’ll begin by learning the progression with a capo at 4, getting comfortable with the chord shapes and how they sit under your hands. The goal isn’t speed — it’s clarity, consistency, and clean transitions between C, Am, F, and G.

From there, you’ll break the chords into arpeggiated triads, focusing on hearing each chord tone clearly. This is where fretboard awareness starts to deepen — you’re no longer just playing shapes, you’re outlining harmony intentionally.

Finally, you’ll move into the melody using the C position of the CAGED system. You’ll see how the vocal line lives inside the chord shapes you’ve already learned, and how melody and harmony connect across the neck.

Take your time this week.

Let the progression feel natural.

Let the triads ring clearly.

Let the melody sit inside the groove.

This is the framework everything else will build on.
