You love the sound of reggae guitar, but if you’ve ever tried to play it, something never quite clicks — it sounds busy instead of laid-back, on top of the beat instead of behind it. The secret isn’t a special chord or a fancy scale. It’s where you put the weight: on the offbeat, in the space, locked to the groove instead of floating over it.
This week is one sunset groove in D Dorian — Dm is home, every chord drawn from C major centered on D — seen from three angles. A feel drill, a rhythm part, and a lead, all over the same chords, and all built on the same idea: the “and.” Lean on the offbeat in all three and they stack into one cohesive piece of music.
