Starry Night

“Starry Night” is another excellent etude to work on.

This piece encourages you to use the entire neck, which is incredibly important in the early stages of playing. The sooner you become comfortable moving beyond the first few frets, the faster the fretboard starts to feel familiar instead of intimidating.

You may struggle at times to get all the strings to ring out clearly — especially as the shapes stretch or shift positions. That’s completely normal. Don’t rush it. Slow it down, check each finger, and make small adjustments. Clean tone comes from patience and repetition.

You’re in 4/4 time here, so feel the steady pulse: 1-2-3-4. Let the rhythm guide your hands. If the timing stays solid, the notes will start to settle in.

Try to memorize it. Then practice playing it in time with a metronome or simple drum groove. The goal isn’t perfection — it’s control, confidence, and consistency.

Stay with it. What feels awkward today often clicks tomorrow.
